Civilian Committee

The 2397 squadron Civilian Committee is made up of parent and guardians of the squadron’s cadets, as well as the squadron Padre and the Commanding Officer.

Their role is to provide support to the Commanding Officer, his staff members, all cadets and also to help parents or guardians with any help or support they may require.  They are set up to ensure the smooth running of the squadron; to provide support and advice in relation to cadet activities and also to help with fundraising for the squadron so that they are able to provide the cadets with additional activities and equipment.

An active committee is vital for ensuring there is a wide range of activities for the cadets. In particular the committee could be much more active in organizing and raising funds for additional social and sporting activities if we had more members. Without one there is a real threat that the cadets could cease to operate.

Committee members get a great deal of enjoyment, and satisfaction out of assisting their Squadron and in these days on the ‘Big Society’ we all have an obligation to give something back, in spite of our busy lives.

The demands of being on the committee are not onerous; we usually meet on a Thursday evening at 19:45 for about 2 hours every 6 weeks or so and we attend and help at various cadet functions.

I would therefore urge you to come along to the next Civilian Committee meeting where we can explain more about what is involved. We do really need you!
