Shooting

On this squadron cadets shoot every Thursday night on our range. Cadets are instructed in safe handling of weapons and correct weapon drill, as well as being able to participate in competitions, work for awards and gain first hand experience of weapons handing from experienced staff such as Plt Off Owen.

This involves training on the two weapons that are available for cadet use – the No.8 .22″ Rifle or the L98 A2 5.65mm Rifle. Once you pass your Weapon Handling Test, you will get the opportunity to shoot at targets in a safe and controlled environment in competitive and non-competitive situations.

There are several shooting awards available to all cadets for achievements such high accuracy from a given distance and squadron marksmen awards. There are also Corps-wide shooting competitions which promotes a high level of skill but also support a sense of individual and team pride in representing your Wing/Region.
